Hello Reader, Summer’s hit its stride along the Cabot Trail - water temps are creeping up toward “I might actually swim,” lupins are giving way to wild roses, and the Skyline parking lot is filling up by 10 a.m. Here’s what’s worth knowing (and packing) before your next lap around the loop. 🚗 Three Quick Stops Worth Making ● Pathend Brook Look-Out – Nothing but ocean, as far as the eye can see. July 1-31 ● Baddeck Gathering Ceilidhs Fiddles, bagpipes, stories and dancing. Find the schedule and more on their website. July 1-31 ● Whale Watching Whales have been spotted off the island! If you’ve never seen one swimming in real life - it’s incredible. Oshan’s Whale Watch and Guaranteed Whales both run daily tours. ● July 18–21 Cabot Trail in 4 Days Cycle Tour 300 km, full support vans, and the smug glow of saying you “rode the Trail,” not just drove it. Visit velocapebreton.ca. ● July 18 Theatre Baddeck presents Ed's Garage Meet former cattle farmer, Peter, who arrives at Ed’s Garage looking for court-ordered counselling, for a light-hearted evening of theatre. Visit cbisland.com 🏖️ Mid-July Travel Hacks● Beat the bus crowds: Hit Skyline Trail before 8 a.m. or after 4 p.m. for that edge-of-the-world boardwalk shot minus the elbows. 🌲 Hidden Turnoff of the Week – Corney Brook Falls (30-min return)A five-minute drive south of Pleasant Bay, the trailhead is unsigned but obvious: one picnic table, two parking spots, and the sound of water doing gravity’s bidding. Hike in, dip your toes, and please keep dogs leashed. 📸 Share Your July SnapsGot a moose sighting, campfire sunset, or “look how steep North Mountain actually is” selfie? Reply to this email with your pics. I’ll feature reader pics (with credit) in the next newsletter - and yes, bragging rights are forever. 👋 One Last ThingOur Facebook group’s buzzing with real-time info on roadwork, practical tips, and current goings-on.
